The War of the Stars

Now and then the interweb shows me things I would never have thought it should. Yet I should not be surprised when I come across Star Wars Related stuff on here.

So I was trolling around Digg and I came across this Star Wars link. I’m not all that sure how to eplain what they are except some one with too many toys, too much time oh there hands and too much imagination. Yet it is still kind of cool.

This got me to thinking about something I found a while back. There is this audiobook called A Different Point of View that is basicly the storm troopers side of the Star Wars story. It’s kind of cool or at least intresting for Star War geeks.

My car hits Google maps

I was playing around with Google Maps today and I found my car in my neighborhood. Parked on the side of the road. It’s in a spot I normal don’t park on and it must be in the middle of the day.
This picture is even before the accident that took off the from portion of my bumper. I know it’s not all that impressive. I know no one really cares but me, but I have a picture of it and prof that it on on there.

Beer was good to my car

As everyone around these parts knows we had a whole lot of rain last week Friday, and yes I am only getting around to posting this Tuesday.

The storms knocked out power in a few spots around town. One was my house it seems since one of the downloads I was working on had stopped because of it. Well really my computer was off and all my set clocks where flashing angrily at me. The only part of that that ment anything was that my computer was off and I had to start the download up again.

It also turned out that some of the power went off on the south side as well. That’s not some place I guess I really care about, but Jenny’s brother had to drive over to there house to finish a report because of it. Which lead to drinking. Which lead to me knowing that the south side had a power outage.

I guess I only bring this up because as I was walking home from my car, which I parked only half a block away from the front door, I renoticed the large tree branch laying on the ground. This was not the first time I’ve walked past it. I think I saw that it was on the ground the Saturday after the rain, but this time I looked at it an realized for the second time, that it must have fallen from the tree it was sitting next too.

Now this branch wasn’t small. I was at least seven feet long and a good arms with in diameter. It was one of those limbs you won’t want to hit your car on the way down. Yet as I walked past it I thought that this branch sitting where it was seemed quite unnatural. It was laying only one the small grass patch next to the tree and parallel to the road.  I couldn’t imagine that with so many cars lining the street that not one of them had been hit by this long fallen branch.

Well park right out in front of my house as I turned the corner I think I saw that car that was hit by this branch. There was a nice sized bent in the hood the looked like it just might fit the size of the branch. The car wasn’t particularly nice, nor in all that good shape, which might have been the reason the dent was still in it.

I feel bad for that guy…or girl…but I am glad that it didn’t happen to me. I park my car on the road every day and I’ve parked my car under that tree a few times in the last month. Almost every night I park my car under a tree. I have to wash it way too often because of that fact. It could have been my car that had been hit by that falling branch. It could have been poor little Wezzy under that branch.

Then I remember…..I was drinking at the time. See drinking does do some good now and again. It saved my car.

Earth Day

We are so happy earth day is here. now we get to see all the green ads on TV. There are even ads where there are no ads. Fox had gone green….i don’t know what that means, but they have a green fox logo with a leaf in the ‘O’

Everyone is green now, does it really then mean anything to be green. It’s not like it used to be. It is now easy to be green. You can drive your SUV and as long as you buy carbon credits you too can be green.

Green is still the color of money, which you are going to need. Green things are almost always a bit on the pricy side.

Yet to contribute I’ll send you to a place that I love. The company is Method and I love there GREEN cleaning products. They work well and smell nice. Everything about them seems good. They don’t test on animals and they have a wonderful design to there products.

That is all I have on earth day.

A mud bowl

Soccer on Saturday….it’s one of those rare moments of fun. A bunch of friends get together and kick the ball around. You get the right people around and good things happen. Everyone there knows that we are there to have fun. We are there to enjoy the outside and the game that we play. That is when Saturday soccer is fun.

Even when there are adverses conditions such as yesterday. It was not cold, but the rain kept turning to snow. It was wet. There where standing water on the playing field and what started out as grass slowly turning into mud. We move the playing field once at half time just to get a bit more traction. It helped a lot for a while, but the more you ran on it the muddier it got.

It was a good time. We only had eight, which was a bit disapointing, but eight as they say is enough. Any less and no one would have wanted to stick around. Five a side would have been more ideal, but we made do. I don’t think a bigger group would have been any better. We might have been able to handle six a side, but the bigger the numbers in weather like we had might not have worked into the fun factor of it all.

As per normal the usual suspects where there. The only real surprise was Eric the Cameroonian. This would be the first time I’ve seen him come out to play soccer in the snow, but it was hardly snowing. It was still good to see him out. Leo even made it, he is a reafulat, but he ran what I think was a half marathon before he played. He could have easily bailed on us. He was out eighth.

Running in that muck was a good work out. I still feel a bit on the sore side today. Which just reinforces that fact that I’m not quite ready for outdoor, but I have to get there. I have to get my self into a bit of game shape before I think May when our first game starts the second half of the season.

As I’ve point out a few times to many people, I have, this year, bought my first pair of running shoes and hope to start running soon. I don’t like running , but I think it’s something I need to do. Maybe because everyone else is doing it, maybe because it cheep, but mostly because I don’t want to join a gym.

I do this because everyone is telling me how important it is for me, and other people my age, to get to the gym. They tell me that I need to work out more now than I did when I was younger. The body goes if not used. I’m not sure where it is going, in fact, I think more of my body is coming then going. I’m up ten pounds since the end of last soccer season. That is why I think I need to start running.

Do I now think of my health now that I’m getting order? I’m going to be 33 come Friday the 18th. Does that mean I’m getting old? No, I know I’ve been old since 30 and sometimes I feel it, but not in the same way it seems others do. I can’t describe the difference, but there is a difference in the way other people talk about it and how I feel. I don’t see anything wrong with getting old, but I just don’t think I’m doing it propoprly. Maybe I just need more practice. Or I need to grow up.

A big waste of time

As everyone might know I have a huge soft spot for flash games. I haven’t played many that I’ve enjoyed as of late, but that has changed. I’ve found a game the has been killing my productivity. In fact I’ve been playing it way too much today on my day off. I haven’t gotten much of anything done, or at least not all the things I wanted to.

The name of the game is Random Defense. The point of the game is simple. All you have to do is protect a road and not let anything get from one end to the other. Simple. Yet you don’t shoot anything personal. You buy defense installations and place them around the road and they shoot at anything that tries to go past. Every time you kill something you get money to buy more defenses. It’s kind of fun and vary addicting.

As I said I’ve been playing too long. now it’s your turn. My best score on a medium board is 10,000. On the easy board I have done a little better getting a good 15,000 almost every time out.  Not that I’m bragging. There are people getting 57,000. That just seems crazy.
